I suppose that, one day, I'll get tired of dissing Andrew Sullivan, but today is not that day.

Quietly Gay

“Please, please,”
the Quisling whimpered
“Just let me be Quietly Gay.
I’ll hide over there,
and I won’t make a sound,
and you can pretend I’m not here.”

But silence didn’t buy us
the freedom that we had.
It was the noisy ones
— the gender queers —
that opened the closet door,
said “join us in the light”.

Tranny's are too dependent
on doctors and therapists,
for the healthcare that we need.
On politicians and bureaucrats
for permission to live
as our souls demand.

We have to be noisy.
Have to fight for the right
to be our true selves.
We cannot just hide in a corner
and beg the world to leave us alone,
and just be Quietly Trans.
